We’ve all heard the sayings “The best things in life are free” and “There is no such thing as a free ride.” Well Tryon Palace Free Day 2018 this Saturday seems to meld the two sayings. From costume makers painstakingly piecing together period wear with needle and thread to the blast of firearms

from the rear palace grounds, a full day of fun is available for free. Unfortunately getting inside the Palace first floor for a free tour takes more perseverance than Storm or I possess. Neither of us is willing to stand in a quarter mile long line for 45 minutes bracing against a cold, snappy wind.
Instead we dash from sunny spot to sunny spot trying to absorb enough warmth to circumvent the palace via its outside gardens. Storm accidentally leaves my camera at the RV when he picks me up from my volunteer stint checking tickets at the history center. So we spend our chilly afternoon visit framing unusual camera shots with our cell phones. Below are the results of our efforts.

Nice cell phone shots! Some of the pictures remind me of Williamsburg, VA.
Thanks! The Palace grounds are similar to Williamsburg.
Brought back some great memories, thanks for taking the time and effort to share. GOD BLESS
