Snow and Lake Tahoe

Sometimes it is hard being a weather goddess:

In spite of the weather, we were finally able to make it to Lake Tahoe which we were lucky to catch on a warm off-season day.  I was expecting a Northern California version of Myrtle Beach, SC but was surprised at how many public parks (both National and State) surrounded the lake.  Don’t get me wrong, I could see from the traffic signs that things could get gnarly once tourists started flooding in for skiing or warm weather activities.  But we timed our visit right – except the gondola was not open 🙁  Terrie insisted that we let her stay in Tahoe and explore since we had so unmercifully wrenched her from the lava tubes.  We happily agreed and were slowly working our way through the parks surrounding the lake when we made the fatal error of stopping for lunch.

At least the animals did not get our cameras so here are a few pics from our visit to Lake Tahoe:
