Memorial Day in Marion

I am sure that there are many wonderful Memorial Day celebrations all over the US, but if you want to visit a town that really celebrates while you enjoy the beauty of a spring weekend in the Blue Ridge mountains, then I suggest that you experience next Memorial Day in Marion, Virginia. First, they covered the courthouse lawn with memorial flags to those from the area who served our country. They followed this magnificent display with a concert on Sunday by “Letters From Home” and on Monday with a delightful parade that included many salutes to Veterans as well as a concrete truck (my personal parade favorite!)

The concert by ““Letters From Home”” was a gift for the ears and when they sang “God Bless America” the theatre became so quiet that all you could hear were the teardrops falling. If you have never been treated to their tight Andrew’s Sisters style harmony, then check them out:
