Hiking Grandstaff Trail Moab

Sunny at the Bridge

As much as I love climbing rocks in the Rubicon with Storm here in Moab, I am determined to enjoy the more physical activities available in the area.  The Grandstaff Trail just 3 miles out of town off Hwy 128 is described as a moderate 4.5 mile roundtrip hike back to a natural bridge called Morning Glory.  I don’t want to hike alone so I must entice Storm to join me.

Storm succumbs to my offer of a big filling breakfast at the Moab Diner, but first we leave early for the hike then breakfast.  No, I am not cruel – we both eat a light breakfast before setting out and my knapsack is full of snacks.  I just know that our age, we are more likely to take a nap than a hike after a stack of pancakes, 2 eggs and crispy bacon.

  1. I remember that Trail! We did it in August….way too hot, and a lot less water in the stream. I think we went for ice cream afterwards!

I think ice cream is an excellent reward for hiking this trail!

  2. All the blogs that you send us are amazing, why would anyone want to visit a foreign country when we have so much beauty here in the states that I really don’t think a person can see all of them in a lifetime. Thanks for sharing, we really enjoy them a lot and feel like we are right along with you guys. GOD BLESS
