Good News, Bad News

I am writing from the campground at South of the Border in South Carolina after my first day on the road without Stormy.  My sister Valerie is riding along and helping me find my way. I can best summarize this day’s challengers in the following list.

Good News

Bad News

Last Thursday, Mark from A&M RV Service in Kittrell, NC replaced the clogged checkvalve in my toilet.  All weekend, I have successfully flushed and re-flushed.

When I awaken at 5:30am this morning to begin my big day, I discover that the toilet is clogged again and will not flush.

Mark approaches my waste problem from the bottom up. He fixes my black tank cleaner/sprayer and ultimately replaces the difficult to reach check valve.

Good News

I need to stop and get the toilet fixed before I travel South.  I want to visit A&M which has a VERY tight driveway.  I am not sure I can get into their lot.

Mark’s shop is exactly on my route to SC and he is there when we stop by for help.  He also fixes my flaky RV taillight.  An expert young man directs me off the road and into the lot for service

Steve and Sheila came up Thursday to help me with last minute checks. Steven even teaches me how to service my batteries.
Difficult to repair check valve
Eric replaces my bladder tank, but that solves only part of my problem.

Bad News

Good News

While Mark is siphoning the toilet, It begins to rain for the first time in three months.  All my hard work cleaning and polishing the RV last week seems destined to be trashed.

The rain stops just as Mark finishes up his de-clogging efforts.  Maybe my recent RV wash job and wheel polishing will not be in vain.

I pull the RV with trailer in between the Raptor on the left and the building with the yellow roof - a confidence builder for sure!

Good News

I-40 south of Garner is a creeping parking lot causing us to miss our first planned pit stop at the rest area there.

Not sure what this day would bring, I am wearing Depends!

Girl, YOU NEED TO WRITE A BOOK, really, folks just can’t make these things up. Glad you are on the road, and you will do fine if you stop WORRYING ABOUT IT. Just do it and things will work. Trust me been there done that. ;>) I felt so much more relaxed after scraping the basement doors at the pay booth in WVA, after that never had a problem. That first scratch made everything just fine. And if you can start off getting next to that building you showed us a picture of, well, you can put that thing anywhere. Safe Travels and please keep in touch. GOD BLESS

I am honestly not worried now that I have hit the road. Just seemed unbelievable that I would ever get going with so much to get done first. RV handles great and I have already been practicing tight maneuvers. Looking forward to getting settled in at Florida tomorrow. Love you guys!

  3. I am following your journey and I am proud of you!
