Do something different each day

I rarely seek advice on how to live my life, but during this cold winter I enjoyed “How To Fail At Almost Everything and Still Win Big” a self help book by Scott Adams creator of the Dilbert comic strip.  In this book the author warns readers against taking life advice from a cartoonist while sharing his inspiring life journey.  Since I believe in daily exercise, Scott’s admonitions to at least try to do some physical activity each day resonated with me.  Boredom is so often the wall that I run into getting motivated to workout so I added to this challenge for myself that each day I would attempt to do something a little different.  I don’t always come up with something new (Scott says trying is the key), but yesterday I discovered a new place to run (I thought).  I visited the trails at Yates Mill Pond.  I hiked all 3 trails and thoroughly enjoyed the wooded adventure of these lightly traveled trails.  A little too uneven and slippery with mud and pine straw for running, I realized too late that I should have worn hiking shoes.  Since I was unable to run fast, I chose instead to enjoy the day, take pictures and work very hard not to fall on my face in the mud (came close to that several times).
