Saturday’s cloudy skies looked a little too moisture laden for a flight or a motorcycle ride so we decided to play it safe and spend part of the day at the Country Doctor’s Museum “History Alive” day in Bailey, NC. Two good natured old steeds gave us an unhurried carriage ride around Bailey and Benjamin Franklin delivered a bemusing speech. The chamber/bluegrass music by Chambergrass was both soothing and foot stomping – a rare combination that was harmonic to our ears!
If you get a chance to stop by the museum on a normal Saturday, they offer guided tours at the top of the hour to explain the many unique items on display there. The tour lasts about an hour and I am sure it is fascinating. Just viewing the intricate woodwork on the pharmacy cabinetry is worth the visit.
Of course we walked the 3 blocks for lunch at our favorite “Bailey’s Cafe” for a yummy chicken salad sandwich and an ambrosial slice of pumpkin roll.
Next weekend Young Eagles fly at Johnston County Airport or visit the Wilson Whirlygig Festival.
