A DC Thanksgiving

After visiting with family and enjoying a great meal on Thanksgiving Day, Stormy and I headed up Highway 15 for a stay in Washington, DC.  We planned to spend Friday touring the Udvar-Hazy Aviation Museum so we stayed Friday night in the surprisingly elegant Westfields Marriott Washington Dulles just 5 miles from the museum.  They had an excellent holiday room rate and the property itself is a gem complimented with gracious and helpful staff.

After a brief snowstorm during breakfast, we made the short drive over to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center.  I have never felt more in touch with aviation, than I did at this cleverly designed and well stocked museum.  The docent who gave the tour that we enjoyed was a former test pilot who shared stories and great info with us.  Even the restoration areas are observable from inside the museum.
